Meet Eric Maertin

After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Economics and Minor in Chemistry, Eric began his career in New York as an Analyst at BlackRock. In this role, he constructed multi-asset portfolio solutions for BlackRock’s largest institutional clients and partnered with senior leadership on a reorganization to expand the firm’s Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) business, which had grown 14% (annualized) to $31.5B in assets under management (AUM).

Following BlackRock, Eric moved to San Francisco to join a logistics startup called Flexport as a Business Operations Associate. His first project was authoring a forty-seven slide presentation, which the team referenced bi-weekly to clear all cargo on Flexport’s private air service. Leveraging Eric’s presentation, the team cleared 100% of shipments on time. Additionally, Eric overhauled processes for consolidating cargo so shipments could be broken down at a destination warehouse (cheaper and faster) rather than an air terminal. The consolidation process improvements yielded $20K in monthly client savings and reduced transit times 1-2 days.

After Flexport, Eric worked in Strategy & Business Operations at JUUL Labs in San Francisco. In this position, he launched a customer survey program across the US, UK and Israel to glean insights about customer demographics, behaviors, product issues and satisfaction. The survey was sent to over 12K JUUL Labs customers quarterly and results were distributed to the C-suite to steer company strategy. From an operational perspective, Eric spearheaded a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) process transformation, which involved transitioning from third-party SDS services to in-house software and designing initiatives to strengthen supporting SDS processes. The company realized $32K in annual savings and saved ~11 days producing each SDS, resulting in fewer product launch delays and increased compliance throughout the supply chain.

Following JUUL Labs, Eric moved back to the east coast to work for FanDuel in New York. One of his key accomplishments was automating single game player pricing for NBA and MLB Fantasy contests, which increased revenue an estimated $2M. For this automation effort, Eric developed Excel models that were integrated into robotic processes to generate player prices at scale for single game Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) contests. For another project, Eric standardized customer bulk crediting requests via a JIRA board. This entailed refining information gathering via JIRA tickets, requiring teams to audit credit amounts submitted and creating a preliminary dashboard for financial visibility. The JIRA board resulted in an 85% time reduction to complete bulk crediting requests across all product verticals.

Eric’s previous work experience has provided him with valuable skills to tackle inefficiencies in the real estate industry. He wants customers to have a better experience with every real estate transaction, which boils down to streamlined processes and best in-class data analytics. With a premier customer experience in mind, Eric plans to work backward and start by building better internal processes for the team.
